Society of Old Pastonians
Founded 27th December 1913. The Society of Old Pastonians(SOP) held their first meeting of 42 Old Boys as a Christmas Party in the King Arms, duly recorded in the 1914 Spring Edition of The Pastonian.
As a means to stay in contact with old mates, and the School itself, this tradition has largely continued in the 100 Years since, although the venue has moved back to the School where possible and the date move to coincide with the weekend nearest Trafalgar Day.
The original 1913 3/ Shilling subscription was not formally increased until the change from School to College. At a 24th May 1983 Committee meeting the subscription was proposed as £1 per year (from 1st Sept 1984) and SOP 'Rules' were documented as part of the Society Constitution, to include its aims as:
(a) to enable past members of the Paston School and the Paston College to keep in touch with one another.
(b) to promote a bond of union between past and present members of the College and past members of the School to their mutual pleasure and advantage.
(c) to promote the interests of the Paston College.
With current SOP Membership spanning the globe, this SOP website was introduced in 2013 to coincide with the Centenary of the Society. Those Members providing their contact details will receive access to the Members Pages.
The current Committee is pleased to welcome new SOP Members at any time, either in person at the annual AGM itself, or online via this site.

100 Years - Society of Old Pastonians Centenary 2013
Way back in 1913, when the School was a mere 307 years old, someone decided there were enough Old Pastonians to start a Society.
According to Charles Forder, this was probably a result of the drive that George Hare brought to the school, appointed Headmaster from 1904-1922. The first non-ordained, non Degree Head. In 1913 he was the first SOP President and presided over speeches and songs at the inaugural meeting and party, held in the Kings Arms.
If you are an Old Pastonian, why not sign yourself up now and keep in touch.
