GDPR - What about it?
We won't regurgitate the 99 Articles that constitute the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Think of it as an enhancement to your rights that you also had under the Data Protection Act 1998, putting you in more control, legally, over the information you share online about you, and how it is used. The UK agreed to the GDPR in 2016 and it became enforceable from 25th May 2018.
You have the right to be simply and well informed about how data you provide will be used by the organisation you provide it to (e.g. when registering or filling in a form). You also have (ongoing) rights to check that information any time and to change your mind and 'opt-out' at any time. In effect, online services must get your consent to use your information for a specific purpose, and further, must safeguard your data from being 'lost' or shared with anyone for any other purpose. This all sounds very fair to us.
So the following is the general information about the use of any data you may provide to the Society of Old Pastonians:
Society of Old Pastonians Personal Data:
We collect names, emailIDs, addresses, and contact phone numbers. We also might collect the years that you attended Paston.
We use this information to keep in contact with you from time to time. For example to invite you to an annual AGM and Trafalgar Dinner, or to inform you of Society, or Paston, news.
We also use this information to audit if you are a Member of the Society.
We do not share any data with third parties.
That's it.
There will be a link to this information on any Contact Form on the Society website, so that you are informed. The main Contact Form HERE can be used if you have any request concerning your personal information or wish to update it or to be removed. Obviously removing your details is effectively un-subscribing from the Society.
